This year´s Heidelberg Health Economics Summer School Basic Program (Module I), an intense three-day scientific program offered by the Institute for Innovation & Valuation in Health Care (InnoVal-HC) under the auspices of the Heidelberg University (Germany), will be a unique opportunity to learn more about the basics of Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) for Health Technology Assessments (HTAs).
"Understanding Health Economics – A Systematic Introduction for Non-Economists"
The Summer School 2026 Basic Program (Module I) primarily dedicated to ...
- the fundamental principles of economic thinking in health care;
- cost effectiveness evaluation in theory & practice;
- the context-dependent usefulness and limitations of applied health economics;
- major tools to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of health care, such as highly specialized medicine and end-of-life care;
- health outcomes, costing & resource utilization based on empirical & theoretical research – enhanced by practical exercises & case studies with ample room for discussions between faculty & participants.
The highly active program is aimed for academics, physicians & pharmacists as well as professionals, and will be of interest & relevance for individuals with none or only (very) limited experience of health economic evaluation methods, in particularly with regard to the basics of (the use of) CEA for HTA.
A limited number of participants (~20 plus faculty & presenters) will allow for an intense exchange in the state-of-the-art conference center NOBIS Brunico–Bruneck in South Tyrol / Italy.
In addition to an intense scientific program participants will be invited to an evening event, including a guided tour of the Bruneck-Brunico Castle with its Messner Mountain Museum.
