The Institute for Governance and Civics (IGC) along with the Department of Economics at Florida State University invite applications for a position at the tenured associate or full professor rank. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenured position in the Department of Economics with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. Salary is competitive.

We seek outstanding candidates who research how economic, political, and legal institutions have influenced economic development, and whose work speaks to economic liberty and the political economy of a free society. Candidates who possess experience with public-facing civic/economic initiatives are desired. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research and scholarship through high quality publications in top-tier venues. Duties include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and service responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in IGC programming.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Ph.D. in Economics or equivalent terminal degree at the time of appointment
  • A clear record of research activity equivalent to an associate professor or full professor (depending on rank being sought) at an R1 research university; 
  • An established record of successful teaching at the university level, commensurate with the rank being sought, and a demonstrated ability to teach and participate in the Department’s undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs.
