The Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL), member of the Eurosystem, is currently seeking to recruit for its Financial Stability and Macroprudential Surveillance Department: 
ECONOMISTS - FINANCIAL STABILITY AND MACROPRUDENTIAL POLICY (m/f/d) - Career A1 
Full time - (ref.: 05/SM/2026)

Your mission: 
As part of the Macroprudential Policy and Regulation Section, your responsibilities include contributing to the analysis and assessment of current macro-financial conditions, global and sectoral systemic risks, and structural and/or cyclical developments in the financial sectors of Luxembourg and the EU/Eurozone. You are responsible for assessing both current macroprudential policies and instruments, as well as the potential consequences of new regulations on the Luxembourg financial sector and its components.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drafting working papers and publications for the BCL's Financial Stability Review, as well as reports and specific notes on macroprudential risks, policy and regulation for internal purposes and for the Systemic Risk Committee (SRC);
  • Regularly contributing to internal memos in response to written procedures issued by the Eurosystem and/or the ESRB, as well as following regular missions by the IMF, the European Commission, the OECD and rating agencies to Luxembourg;
  • Developing models and early warning indicators, as well as monitoring the resilience and evolution of risks (including climate and digital assets) of the components of the Luxembourg financial sector (banks, investment funds, insurance companies and OFIs), and assessing the effectiveness of macroprudential tools and instruments;
  • Participation in and contribution to Eurosystem and/or European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) task forces, expert groups and working groups.


Your profile:

  • Master or PhD degree in economics, finance or econometrics;
  • Professional experience in banking economics, financial stability or macroprudential supervision advantageous;
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical tools and econometric techniques for panel and time series data, and/or dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models;
  • Familiarity with aggregate and granular economic and financial databases, particularly balance sheets, profit and loss accounts of banks, investment funds, and other financial sector-specific statistical reports;
  • Ability to write advanced studies and risk assessments in the financial sector, or one of its components, and translate these reports and analyses into clear, relevant policy-level conclusions;
  • Fluent in English and French. Luxembourgish would be a distinctive advantage;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to produce clear, high-quality analytical notes and/or reports;
  • Ability to work independently or in a group, meeting deadlines and working in a multicultural team environment;
  • Ease in working calmly in a challenging environment.
