Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SLAS) at Musashi University invites applications for a tenured, tenure-track, or fixed-term position in Economics, focusing on Microeconomics and Applied Microeconomics. The successful candidate will play a central role in SLAS’s Parallel Degree Programme (PDP) in partnership with the University of London (UoL), through teaching contributions to BSc Economics and BSc Economics and Management. Applications are welcome from scholars with a strong research agenda and publication record and demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in English.
Job details
Teaching and administrative responsibilities:
- Teaching undergraduate courses in Economics and related areas (Faculty members are expected to teach five "koma" per semester, with one "koma" being a 105-minute class meeting per week.) The teaching load includes:
- Behavioral Economics (EC3019) or Industrial Economics (EC3099)
- Microeconomics (EC2066) or “Mathematics 1 (MT105a - Half course) and Statistics 1(ST104a - Half course)”
- Other undergraduate lectures and seminars
- Contributing to administration and curriculum development of SLAS.
- Duties pertaining to university entrance examinations and committees.
- Academic supervision and pastoral care of students.

Wages
The salary will be determined based on academic background, teaching career, and work experience, as per the school's regulations.
Application requirements
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field required at the time of appointment.
- Must have sufficient command of English to effectively teach undergraduate courses in English. Proficiency in Japanese preferred.
