The Alfred-Weber Institute at Heidelberg University invites applications for a
Postdoc position in Financial or Macro Econometrics.
The position is available from April 2025 onward. We invite applications from candidates with a research focus on Financial Econometrics, Forecasting, Macro Econometrics, Time Series Econometrics, or Econometric Theory. Applicants are expected to show outstanding research potential (preferably evidenced by publications) and should have obtained a Ph.D. when taking up the position or be near completion. We seek new colleagues with innovative research ideas and the potential to publish their research in international top econometrics journals.
The position is associated with the Chair of Econometrics (Professor Christian Conrad) and the Research Group in Macroeconomics & Financial Econometrics at Heidelberg University and is affiliated with the vibrant HKMetrics Network for Econometrics and Statistics. The HKMetrics network is a joint initiative of econometricians and statisticians from Heidelberg University, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and the University of Mannheim. Our primary research areas include measuring, modeling, and forecasting financial market risks, the interaction between macroeconomic developments and financial markets, and the expectation formation of economic agents.
The initial contract is for three years and may be renewable for another year. The German Higher Education Law regulates the salary, which will be set according to the E13 TV-L scheme. The position is full-time (100%), and the teaching obligation is four hours per week during the semester. The ability to teach in German is desirable but not necessary. Funding will be available for research visits, conference travel, and similar activities.
