Eligibility Description
Applicants must be:
- a citizen or permanent resident of an EU Member State or otherwise legally authorised to work in an EU Member State;
- engaged in the conduct of (or support for) research in an EU Member State (although applications where a majority, but not the entirety, of the research is conducted in an EU Member State may also be considered);
- employed as a (full/associate/assistant/visiting) professor at a university in an EU Member State for the duration of the fellowship.

The National Bank of Belgium (NBB) Research Fellowship Programme provides financial support to leading academics and researchers in areas in which the Bank sees a need to enhance its knowledge and stimulate economic thinking in the specific context of Belgium.
Objectives of the programme
- To promote high-quality economic and financial research that is directly relevant to policymaking
- To offer research staff at the NBB the opportunity to gain exposure to - and familiarise themselves with - recent developments in economic research
- To provide distinguished scholars with insight into the NBB’s policymaking environment
Call for proposals
The NBB calls for proposals in the areas of agent heterogeneity, climate change, digitalisation (including AI), international risks and macroeconomic policy.
