Central European University (CEU)

Central European University (CEU) has earned global recognition for a variety of programs, including political science, international relations, philosophy and sociology. In 2014-2015, Times Higher Education World University Rankings named CEU among the world's top 100 universities in the social sciences. Our programs related to politics and international studies jumped to 7th in Europe and 29th in the world in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) subject rankings published in 2015. At CEU, more than 130 permanent and 170 visiting professors and instructors from some 30 countries ensure that our students benefit from a rich diversity of ideas, expertise and teaching styles. Faculty members typically devote at least half their time to interdisciplinary research, including participation in European and international projects. Through our 17 research centers, we promote high-quality research, intellectual risk-taking, and reflective thinking on the critical issues of the 21st century. Besides interdisciplinary courses taught in English by an outstanding faculty, CEU offers a highly international learning environment and a remarkable student/faculty ratio of 8:1. Located in Budapest, the vibrant and stunning European capital city, CEU hosts more than 700 public events a year, addressing many of the vital questions of the day. Even better, CEU provides generous financial aid for students: in 2014-2015, 80% of our MA and 92% of our PhD students received funding, ranging from partial tuition scholarships to full fellowships with stipends.
