In 1919 the American University in Cairo (AUC) was established as a private,
independent and nonprofit liberal arts academic institution in Egypt. More
than 7,000 Egyptian and international students are enrolled in undergraduate,
graduate, doctoral, and professional programs regarding business, humanities,
global affairs and public policy, education, engineering and sciences.
Furthermore, AUC is the top school in the country and is well reputed
internationally for its School of Business, which was ranked as second best
in Africa in 2013.
