CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research
The Conference "Eastern Partnership countries in the context of Russia’s war in Ukraine", held both online and on-site in Warsaw on 24 October 2025, will focus on the economic consequences of Russia’s war in Ukraine, shifts in trade, energy, and migration, as well as other implications. By combining rigorous economic analysis with geopolitical perspectives, the event will provide an assessment of the region’s future economic prospects.
About the event
The recently published CASE report Eastern European Economies Amidst Global and Regional Shocks explores how the economies of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine have navigated a series of global and regional disruptions – from the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic to the ongoing war in Ukraine. It provides a comprehensive analysis of resilience and vulnerability across the region’s economies, highlighting both long-term structural weaknesses and policy responses.
While the report offers valuable insights, the situation on the ground is evolving rapidly. For this reason, the conference will go beyond the report itself by bringing together its authors with other experts. This format will allow us to confront the report’s findings with the most recent economic developments in the Eastern Partnership countries.
The conference will focus on the economic consequences of Russia’s war in Ukraine, shifts in trade, energy, and migration, as well as other implications. By combining rigorous economic analysis with geopolitical perspectives, the event will provide an assessment of the region’s future economic prospects.
