The Development Economics Group at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, is offering two full-time postdoctoral positions (m/f/d; pay grade E 13 TV-L Bavaria), each for a duration of 2 years.
Start date: October 1, 2026
We are looking for two new team members with a strong drive to develop and advance their research agenda in development economics, economic history, and/or political economy, and actively contribute to our activities. We are committed to creating a productive research environment and providing support for publishing in leading journals.
Your Tasks:
- Conduct independent research using experimental or quasi-experimental methods
- Develop a highly competitive research agenda
- Establish and maintain research collaborations with internal and external partners
- Present research results at international conferences, workshops, and seminars
- Teach (5 SWS, approximately 2 courses per semester, at the BA and/or MA level)
Your Profile:
- An outstanding PhD in Economics (completed or close to completion)
- Excellent knowledge of methods (e.g., applied microeconometrics) and/or experimental methods (e.g., lab and field experiments and/or survey design)
- Strong interest in topics in one or more of the following areas: development economics, economic history, and political economy
- Ability to work independently, good organizational skills, and high motivation
- Very good command of English, both written and spoken
- Good knowledge of the German language (required for teaching at the BA level)
