Two roles available to teach, research, and support global land-based economic education at Lincoln University, New Zealand, including offshore delivery in China.

Mō te tūka | The role

The Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce at Lincoln University is seeking two vibrant and dynamic individuals to join our Economics team.

Economics is central to our land-based mission—spanning the full food and fibre value chain, from farm-level decision-making to global consumer trends. You will contribute to impactful research and innovative teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including international delivery with our joint programme with Huazhong Agricultural University in China. Be part of a university shaping sustainable land, food, and ecosystem solutions.

Some tasks of the role include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate economics courses
  • Supervising Honours, Master's, and PhD student research
  • Contributing to specialised programmes such as the BCom (Food and Resource Economics) and Master of Business degrees
  • Participating in Lincoln University's joint programmes in China, including short in-person teaching visits
  • Conducting and publishing impactful research aligned with land-based systems
  • Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to support the Faculty's mission

Permanent role, 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus, with short periods of work in China.

Salary range as below:

  • Lecturer: Grade A6, $90,834 - $98,283
  • Senior Lecturer: Grade A7, $105,589 - $131,059
  • Associate Professor: Grade A8, $134,060 - $145,881

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD in Economics or a closely related field
  • A strong quantitative background and research track record
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the tertiary level
  • Willingness to travel and contribute to international education partnerships
  • Expertise or interest in areas such as Data Analytics, Agri-Food Policy, or Behavioural Economics
  • A commitment to sustainable, land-based systems and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Alignment with Manaakitaka and Lincoln University values.
