Researcher | Pre-/Post-Doc

The position is available from October 2026 for a period of four years, with the option of extension. A part-time arrangement is possible.

Our research and teaching focus on the economic behaviour of firms and individuals in the context of globalisation, migration, and structural change. A central element of our research is the empirical analysis of economic phenomena based on large individual-level datasets.

Your responsibilities will include:
• teaching duties amounting to 4 hours per week during term time (Semesterwochenstunden)
• your own research, comprising at least 50 percent of working time, in pursuit of further academic qualification (e.g. PhD or habilitation), publications
• supporting the Chair's research activities as well as contributing to academic self-administration

Your profile:
• Master degree in economics or a related field
• interest in and knowledge of applied microeconomics and international economics
• interest in, and very good knowledge of, econometrics and the application of empirical methods
• very good programming skills in R and/or Stata
• very good command of spoken and written English
• initiative, creativity, and strong analytical skills
• a keen interest in research

Desirable selection criteria
• experience and expertise in working with individual-level and/or foreign trade data
• experience in developing and implementing independent research ideas
