Kartik, who holds a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Brandeis University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University, is noted for his impactful work in microeconomic theory, game theory, and information economics. His research explores critical concepts such as "incentive compatibility" and “single-crossing properties,” extending to practical applied issues like the decision-making processes of political candidates and the implications of test-optional admissions policies in academia.

Known for his contributions to strategic communication, Kartik has developed a theoretical framework addressing how misinformation affects effective communication among conflicting interests. His notable publications have appeared in leading economic journals such as the American Economic Review and Econometrica.
