The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova is seeking excellent candidates to fill the academic position of:

Full Professor (tenured) in Organization Theory and Human Resource Management (13/B3 – SECS-P/10 Organizzazione Aziendale)


Job Description and Position

The position offered is at the Full Professor Level in Organization Theory and Human Resource Management (scientific sector SECS-P/10 according to the Italian academic system). The position is tenured, full time, with a teaching load of 120 contact hours per academic year. 

The annual gross salary - net of employer-paid social security contributions - is approx. € 75.000. Whilst this is not negotiable, the faculty member will enjoy bi or tri-annual increases upon meeting targets as defined by the University of Padua. The salary is subject to employee-paid social security contributions and Italian income tax. Depending on individual circumstances (e.g., being non-Italian resident for the past two years), the successful candidate may qualify for generous tax exemption (here for an unofficial but clear explanation of the mechanism at work).



The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Business, Management, or siblings’ disciplines obtained in Italy or abroad. 

Applicants should provide evidence of a continued and sustained ability to publish in recognized scientific journals in the following fields: organizational theory, organizational design, human resource management, organizational behavior. Candidates should have a proven track record of publishing in leading business and management journals (i.e. ‘A’ ranked journals according to the ANVUR (The Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes, see https://www.anvur.it/en/agency/) and the Chartered Association of Business Schools [CABS]). It will be preferred a teaching focus in organization theory and human resource management (e.g., human resource management, organizational behavior, organization theory, organization design) at the Bachelor, Master, or PhD levels either in Italian or English. Teaching at recognized international institutions is particularly valued.


Qualifications and Requirements

According to Italian legislation, eligible candidates must hold a position as full Professor in Italy or abroad, or have obtained the national academic qualification as ‘full professor’ (see https://abilitazione.miur.it/public/index.php?lang=eng  for more information). 

Interested applicants need to meet the following conditions: 

a) demonstrate a sustained track record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals; 

b) ability in securing research funds at the Department or University levels;

c) consolidated experience in working with international scholars and activism in widely recognized academic societies (e.g. EGOS, AOM, EURAM, etc..);

d) willingness to contribute to the Department’s activities and to the enhancement of the research group in organization theory and human resource management;

e) high-quality teaching through student or peer evaluations;

f) ability to supervise PhD students and support early career researchers.


About the Department

The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova was founded in 1989 and counts over 2000 students and about 70 faculty members conducting research in economics or business fields. The Italian Ministry of University and Research has included the Department amongst the Departments of Excellence for the period 2018-22 and awarded special funding to enhance research capacity. Since 2012 the University guide 'Grande Guida' ranks the Department among the top three institutions for teaching quality in the areas of Economics and Statistics. 

The Department ranked fourth in Italy in terms of research quality and productivity. Research carried out in accounting has been ranked third in Italy by the National independent agency (ANVUR).

Out of 850 assessed Universities, our Department is also at the top of the U-Multirank international ranking.  The working language of the Department of Economics and Management is Italian, whereas teaching is done mainly in English across the Masters, and PhD levels. More information is available on the website
