Professor of Education in Financial Technology (m/f/d)

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a full-time Professor of Education in Financial Technology. This position has been generously funded by WM Gruppe, a leading provider of financial information, in order to make a lasting contribution to the development of the next generation of leaders in the era of digital transformation in banking and financial services. The ideal candidate will have extensive teaching experience in finance, economics, computer science, or a closely related discipline with a demonstrated interest in and commitment to teaching and excellence, along with programme development, leadership, and scholarly development in financial technology education. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching and programme development in financial technology and the overall development of the Finance Department and Frankfurt School as a whole. Your profile:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent academic qualification in the field of finance, economics, computer science, or a closely related discipline;
  • Significant teaching and research accomplishments in the field of finance, economics, computer science, or a closely related discipline;
  • Excellence in financial technology teaching and educational leadership (e.g., through teaching innovation, programme development, etc.);
  • Solid technical expertise, preferably in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, distributed ledgers, payments, and digital platforms;
  • Relevant scholarly activities with publications in recognized international journals and conferences;
  • Close relationships with industry to draw on in teaching and research;
  • Experience in co-operation with universities and scientific institutions;
  • Outstanding English communication skills;
  • International experience.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in executive education in areas such as artificial intelligence, distributed ledgers, and digital finance;
  • Strong research background;
  • Sound understanding of the financial services industry;
  • Relevant industry experience;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Development, teaching, and delivery of financial technology courses across the various FS degree as well as professional and executive education programmes;
  • Contributing to the development of new and enhancement of existing programmes at FS;
  • Engaging in scholarly research in financial technology;
  • Maintaining strong industry and corporate connection;
  • Providing thought leadership (e.g. to corporate partners and alumni, by media relations);
  • Responsibility for enhancing students’ experience and journey to help position FS as an entrepreneurial hub related to technology and technology management;
  • Mentoring students;
  • Performing services for the School (e.g., in the context of committees, etc.);
  • Exhibiting sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, international, and ethnic backgrounds of the FS students.
