The Chair of International Economics at the University of Oldenburg is looking for a
Research assistant / Doctoral student (100%, E13 TV-L)
to join our team as soon as possible.
Our research and teaching activities lie in the field of international economics, with a focus on international trade, global production networks, and multinational enterprises.
Your responsibilities lie in contributing to the research and teaching activities of the Chair of International Economics. You conduct independent research on questions related to international trade, international finance and/ or international migration, and you teach courses in international economics (four hours per week during the teaching period).
You must possess (or be about to finish) a university Master’s degree in Economics or a related discipline. We are seeking someone who is curious, eager to learn, and passionate about research and teaching in international economics. You have a very good command of written and spoken English, excellent communication skills, and you enjoy working in a team.
Ideally you have a solid background in international economics, in particular in the theory and empirics of international trade, and the willingness to develop further in these areas. Strong skills in theoretical modeling, econometric analysis, and/ or computational methods are an advantage. The ideal candidate has first experience in conducting independent research. First experience in empirical analysis using statistical software (such as R, Stata, or Python) is an advantage. A basic command of German is useful but not a requirement.

Further information: The position serves for personal scientific qualification in the form of a doctorate. The position is limited to a period of three years, with a possibility of extension (up to a maximum of six years total). 100% working hours correspond to 39.8 hours per week.
