The Department of Economics at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a Sessional Instructor for the Fall Semester of 2019 for Economics 2220; Monday and Wednesday from 13:30-14:45p.m. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

EC-2220 - PUBLIC SECTOR ECONOMICS This course examines the broad nature and function of the public sector, with emphasis on the rationale for the existence of the public sector in a market economy and its impact on resource allocation, distribution of income and economic performance. Topics include anatomy of market failure, types of government intervention to correct market failure, the public good, externalities, and an overview of the growth of the public sector in Canada.

PREREQUISITE: Economics 1010 and Economics 1020, or permission of the instructor

3 hours a week

Successful applicants will have a Master’s degree in Economics.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the academic unit.
