Join us on January 24-25, 2025, in Reinswald, Sarntal Alps, Italy, for the 3rd Bolzano Workshop on Historical Economics, funded by unibz and the Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse. Keynotes include Sascha Becker (Monash/Warwick) and Paola Giuliano (UCLA). This workshop brings together scholars from historical and cultural economics to examine how the past and cultural contexts influence economic decision-making and outcomes. A special session will focus on South Tyrol’s identity and economic development in Alpine regions.
We invite submissions on Historical and Cultural Economics. Submission deadline: October 15, 2024. Limited spots available, with accommodation provided for participants.
Call for Papers: 3rd Bolzano Workshop on Historical Economics
We are pleased to announce the 3rd Bolzano Workshop on Historical Economics, which will take place on January 24-25, 2025, in Reinswald, located in the Sarntal Alps, Italy. The workshop is generously funded by unibz and the Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse.

Workshop Overview
Historical events and cultural norms shape economic behavior. This workshop aims bringing together leading scholars from historical and cultural economics to explore how the past and cultural context influence decision-making and economic outcomes. It will also focus on generating concrete policy recommendations and actionable strategies for integrating cultural factors into sustainable economic development.
A special session will focus on South Tyrol, exploring its journey of identity formation over the last century, and culture and economic development in Alpine regions more broadly.
