The Final DemoTrans Conference 'Democracy, Globalisation, and the Future of Governance' marks the culmination of the Horizon Europe project DemoTrans – The Interchange between Democratic Institutions and the Globalisation of the Economy. Over the past years, DemoTrans has explored how globalisation, financialization, and corporate influence reshape democratic governance, social cohesion, and sustainability in Europe and beyond.

The conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss how democratic institutions can adapt to the challenges of a changing global economy. It provides a platform to connect DemoTrans findings with the broader academic and policy debates on corporate accountability, transparency, democratic legitimacy, and inclusive governance.

By fostering exchange between scholars and practitioners, the conference aims to advance evidence-based dialogue and co-develop actionable policy insights that strengthen democracy, accountability, and trust in public institutions.

The conference will also feature 4 distinguished keynote speakers: Zuzana Murdoch (University of Bergen), Vitezslav Titl (Utrecht University), Benny Geys (University of Bergen) and Miroslav Palanský (Charles University).
