We are pleased to announce a workshop on "Heterogeneous Macro Expectations – New Evidence and Theory" at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany). We welcome both empirical and theoretical papers that study heterogeneity of macroeconomic expectations. Empirical papers can use micro data on households, firms, or professional forecasters. They can be based on observational data or RCTs.
Potential research questions that would fit the workshop well are:
- What causes heterogeneity of macroeconomic expectations?
- What is the role of disagreement for the transmission of macroeconomic shocks?
- How do agents update their expectations?
- How do expectations influence economic decisions?
- How should we model the expectation formation process?
- What are the macroeconomic consequences of information frictions?
Chris Roth (University of Cologne) kindly agreed to give the keynote lecture.
We plan to reserve one workshop session for junior researchers. Thus, we encourage current PhD students to submit their work. To address potential lack of funding on their side, we will cover all travel and accommodation costs for participating PhD students (reimbursement after workshop).
The workshop will start after a light lunch on Thursday, September 11, and will end in the early afternoon on Friday, September 12. Thus, travelling on the same days within/close to Germany is possible.
We would very much appreciate your support in making this event a success: please submit your excellent papers and feel free to share this announcement with colleagues in your network who work on related topics. (While we prefer full papers, we will also consider extended abstracts.)
