Chair (W3) of Transportation and Spatial Economics

Chair (W3) of Transportation and Spatial Economics

 

to be filled as of April 1, 2027.

The Chair will focus on research in the economic analysis of socially relevant topics in transport and spatial economics. The development and application of modern economic and econometric methods should contribute to a better understanding of the challenges of the transport system and mobility in their interdependence with spatial structures, the environment, the economy and state interventions. It shall, further, serve as a basis for developing possible solutions. 

 

You (m/f/x) will represent the scientific field of transportation economics and spatial economics in teaching and research. Your teaching duties will include active participation in the German and English-speaking Bachelor's and Master's programs of the Faculty of Transport Sciences ‘Friedrich List’ and in teaching export, particularly to the Faculty of Business and Economics. We expect you to be involved in academic self-administration and willing to teach in German and English. We expect you to successfully acquire third-party funding from the state, federal government (DFG, BMBF, etc.) or the EU and require experience in externally funded research. We attach particular importance to your willingness to cooperate with other chairs of the ‘Friedrich List’ Faculty of Transport Sciences or other structural units of TUD, such as the Faculty of Business and Economics, and at the same time, expect close cooperation with non-university research institutions, especially in the DRESDEN-concept network, as well as with industry partners. We would also like to see the development of ideas to support experimental research that can be implemented in a unique way at the Smart Mobility Lab (SML) in Hoyerswerda/Lausitz, which is operated in interdisciplinary cooperation between the fields of highly automated driving, flying (drones), agriculture, and robotics.

 

We seek a dynamic and committed personality with an excellent international academic track record in transport and spatial economics and experience in externally funded research. We look forward to receiving your application and expect you to have proven expertise in at least two of the following areas:

  • policy evaluation by econometric methods, particularly causal inference methods
  • design, implementation and evaluation of discrete choice analysis and discrete choice experiments
  • development and use of structural equilibrium models, in particular, quantitative spatial models or numerical spatial equilibrium models
  • microeconomic analysis and evaluation of price and regulatory instruments.
