Dr. Dominik Steinkühler has been appointed as the new Head of Group Development and Economics at KfW, effective September 1, 2025. He succeeds Dr. Susanne Maurenbrecher, who will become General Manager in October.

In a recent announcement, KfW revealed that Dr. Dominik Steinkühler will take on the role of Head of Group Development and Economics beginning September 1, 2025. Dr. Steinkühler, 44, will inherit responsibilities that encompass corporate strategy, sustainability, strategic planning, and management as well as overseeing the innovation and economics research departments at KfW. 

Dr. Steinkühler's prior experience includes being a partner at the growth capital firm Vorwerk Ventures, where he founded the Climate Investment department. His impressive credentials also include having served as Managing Director and CFO at Friday Insurance and an executive board member at Commerzbank. Additionally, he has a PhD in business administration from RWTH Aachen University and studied at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. 

Stefan Wintels, CEO of KfW, expressed confidence in Dr. Steinkühler's extensive banking expertise and stakeholder experience, emphasizing the necessity for KfW to mobilize private capital effectively to strengthen Germany's economic position. Wintels stated, "I am delighted to welcome Dr. Dominik Steinkühler, an experienced strategy expert, to KfW." 

This leadership transition follows Dr. Susanne Maurenbrecher's promotion to General Manager of KfW, effective October 1, expanding her contributions to the organization.
