Damascus, Mar. 26 (SANA) — Syria has formed a joint business council with Spain to enhance economic cooperation and explore partnership opportunities. This follows similar initiatives with other countries in recent weeks, and is part of a broader strategy to engage more deeply with international markets.
The Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal al-Shaar, has officially established the Syrian-Spanish Business Council to strengthen economic collaboration between Syria and Spain. The council is intended to facilitate closer ties and improve trade relations.
The news was announced by Syria's official news agency, SANA.
According to a decree released by the Ministry, Maher al-Safi has been appointed as chairman of the council, which will function under the regulations that govern Syrian joint business councils established with partner countries. This council aims to create a solid framework for trade coordination, investment facilitation, and joint ventures between Syrian entrepreneurs and their international counterparts.
This recent formation follows the Ministry's quick succession of diplomatic and economic appointments, including the creation of the Syrian-Italian and Syrian-Lebanese Business Councils just last week. Each of these councils serves as key legal and organizational structures to enhance economic activities.
After decades of civil war, the initiatives are an example of Syria seeking new economic partnerships to improve its position in the international trade landscape, and more widely in the international community.
