Newcastle University has appointed economist Andy Haldane as the first Professorial Fellow of its newly established Institute of Devolution, which aims to enhance regional growth and public policy through insights on devolution. 

Andy Haldane CBE, former Chief Economist at the Bank of England, has been elected as the new President of the British Chambers of Commerce, succeeding Baroness Lane-Fox. He will assume the role on February 1, 2026.
