5th WORKSHOP ON GENDER AND ECONOMICS
University of Luxembourg; May 21-22, 2026
The fifth edition of the Gender and Economics Workshop will be held at the University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg City, on 21–22 May 2026. The workshop is organized by the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Luxembourg and LISER. The event aims to bring together scholars presenting cutting-edge research in economics, with a particular focus on gender, culture, family, fertility, and diversity.
CONFIRMED KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
We have the great honor to welcome the following keynote speakers:
Johanna Rickne (Stockholm University) and Klaus Desmet (SMU)
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
We invite submissions of full papers from all fields of economics, including (but not limited to): Culture and identity; Migration; Labour markets; Political economy; Public economics, with theoretical and empirical approaches.
To encourage early-career researchers to exchange ideas, projects, and perspectives with the keynote speakers and other participants, the workshop will include two poster sessions. Posters can be printed by the University of Luxembourg, provided that the poster is received before 1 May 2026.
YOUNG RESEARCHERS PRIZE
To recognize outstanding contributions by young scholars, the University of Luxembourg will award a Young Researcher Prize of €1,000. Conditions on eligibility are: paper by PhD student(s) or individuals who completed their PhD within a maximum of three years prior to May 21, 2026 (all coauthors must comply with these conditions).

SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submissions should be sent to dem@uni.lu before March 15, 2026 with the subject line: “Submission to Gender and Economics”
- We will only consider completed papers and not abstracts
- Use the following convention to name your paper: Submitter_Keyword e.g. Beine_Gender_Norms
- Mention explicitly whether you are submitting for a Poster Session or a Presentation and whether you are eligiblefor the PRIZE.
- The cover page of each submission must include the paper title, authors, affiliations, abstract, authors, and contact information for the applicant.
- We will notify applicants by March 31st, 2026.
