The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca invites expressions of interest from outstanding candidates for a prospective tenure-track Assistant Professor (RTT) position in Economics, Management, and Statistics, and related fields.
The purpose of the scouting procedure is to collect expressions of interest in sectors deemed strategic for the development of the School’s research areas and doctoral programs in order to evaluate the opportunity to open call (“concorsi”) as expected according to the Italian law.
The call for expressions of interest is open to candidates working in any field of economics, management, statistics, and related fields. We particularly welcome applicants whose research combines strong theoretical, empirical, experimental, or computational foundations with the analysis of economically and socially relevant questions.
The ideal candidate will have a solid research profile and the potential to develop an internationally visible and independent research agenda. Applications are encouraged from scholars using a broad range of methodologies, including business analytics, economic theory, econometric methods, causal inference, experimental methods, survey methods, psychometric methods, mathematical and statistical methods, optimization, game theory, and machine learning.
Research interests may include, but are not limited to, microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, applied mathematics, statistics, operations research, management science, strategy, planning and control, business model and innovation, behavioral economics, political economy, computational economics, labor economics, public economics, health economics, environmental economics, international economics, industrial organization, economics of innovation, and economic networks.
The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the research environment at the IMT School and, in particular, to the activities of the AXES – Laboratory for the Analysis of Complex Economic Systems. The candidate should be willing to collaborate with researchers from economics, management, statistics, and related disciplines and to participate in interdisciplinary research projects.
Expected activities include:
- carrying out high-quality research;
- publishing in leading peer-reviewed international journals;
- contributing to national and international research projects and funding applications;
- teaching economics, management, mathematics, statistics, econometrics and quantitative methods, primarily at the doctoral level;
- supervising and mentoring PhD students;
- participating in seminars, workshops, and the scientific life of the School;
- contributing to the PhD Programs in Economics, Analytics and Decision Sciences (EADS), Social Sciences for Sustainability and Wellbeing (S3W), and Intelligence Systems for Business Administration (ISBA);
- and to other relevant educational and research initiatives.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Economics, Management, Statistics or a closely related discipline and demonstrate excellent research potential. A strong command of English is required. International research experience, experience in doctoral teaching or supervision, experience in research grant writing, funding acquisition (including university performance awards) and technology transfer, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary research teams will be considered valuable assets.
IMT School offers a highly international and interdisciplinary research environment, with strong interactions among economics, statistics, management, data science, computer science, engineering, neuroscience, and the social sciences.
