The National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) was established in 1939 in Paris, France as a governmental research organization. Today the CNRS is the largest fundamental science agency in all of Europe, which employs more than 26,000 permanent national and international employees, as well as approximately 6,000 temporary workers and dedicated interns.
