The Department of Health Sciences and Health Policy was founded at the
University of Lucerne in Switzerland. The department focuses mainly on
health, disabilities, human functioning, conceptualization and measurement,
as well as communication and policy efforts. The department has established a
new sector at the Guido A. Zäch Institute of the Swiss Paraplegics
Foundation in Nottwil. Department faculty promotes research from a
"biopsychosocial perspective" and has based the framework of the university
body on the World Health Organization’s International Classification of
Functioning, Disability and Health. Â Â
