The Economics Department consists of 16 members, including 7 full and 4
associate professors. It ranges among the best economics departments in
continental Europe. The academic staff originates from more than six
different countries and is research driven with an emphasis on empirical
research. We offer a bachelor, several master, and a PhD program, the latter
in cooperation with the Study Center Gerzensee. We teach all major fields in
economics, but are specialized in monetary macroeconomics where we offer a
specialized master program in conjunction with the University of Basel. A
further strength of the department lies in climate and resource economics,
and regional development with several cooperations in terms of teaching and
research with other universities and disciplines.
