The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) was established in 1950 as Sri Lanka's
main institution in the financial sector. CBSL is governed by a Monetary
Board of five distinguished members and encourages the promotion, and
development, of productive resources within the country. Furthermore, CBSL
 holds the responsibility of securing price, financial system, and
economic stability across Sri Lanka.Â
