Chair of Public Finance, TU Chemnitz

The Chair of Public Finance is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and one of the 5 economics departments at TU Chemnitz. The field of Public Finance is especially concerned with any government interaction within a national economy, related revenue and expenses, and the resulting allocation of resources as well as income distribution. Existing policies are examined and criteria for governmental interference are developed. A vital role of Public Finance is the conception of institutions engaged in providing incentives that are promoting behavior in favour of public welfare. Another field of interest arises in political economics focused on the attainment of macroeconomic goals such as growth and employment rates. Not least concerned with government distribution policies, Public Finance analyses market failure in terms of fair income and capital distribution and tries to develop instruments to amend these issues by the application of appropriate social policies and taxation.
