Fordham University was founded in 1841 as a private, non-profit research
university in New York City. Fordham was established by the Catholic Diocese
of New York and functions independently as a Jesuit institution under a lay
board of trustees. Fordham University is structured into ten colleges for
undergraduate and graduates, and has more than 15,000 American and
international students enrolled in full time programs. Furthermore, business,
law, social services, and education are amongst the most popular areas of
study at the university.Â
