Institute of Economic and Social Research of the South (CONICET-UNS)

The Institute of Economic and Social Research of the South (CONICET-UNS) was created in 1956 within the National University of the South in the image of their fellow institutions in the National University of Litoral, La Plata, Tucumán and Córdoba. The aim of the institute is to contribute to the generation of knowledge and education of human talent. Currently the Institute of Economic and Social Research of the South (IIESS) is an executive unit dependent on the National Council of Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET) and the National University of the South (UNS) recognized as such in 2010 (Res. Directory 3091/10 CONICET). The IIESS (CONICET-UNS) brings together researchers in the field of Economics and Social Sciences, committed to the creation and dissemination of new knowledge. Its main objectives are to promote basic and applied research, training of human resources and the organization of groups of disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Researchers, administrative assistants, thesis students, and interns from Argentina and around the globe participate in IIESS  projects.
