In 1960 the International Development Association (IDA) was established as an
international financial institution which works to provide development
assistance and poverty alleviation, through the forms of concessional grants
and loans, to the poorest developing nations around the globe. The IDA is
a member of the World Bank Group and is located in Washington, D.C.
