The Department of Economics belongs to the School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg and the department has around 100 employees from several countries. The teaching within the department is economics and statistics and the department has around 800 students registered at courses and programs. A diversity of researcher are located at the department where several of them are internationally well known economists. The PhD program starts September 1, 2022 and expected date of completion is May, 2027, at which point the student is expected to obtain a PhD in Economics (doktorsexamen). The first two years are largely dominated by coursework whereas the remainder are primarily devoted to research and thesis writing as well as departmental work such as teaching duties and administrative duties.
