Prof. Dr. Andreas Fuchs
At the University of Göttingen -Public Law Foundation-, Ibero-Amerika-Institut, there is a position as Postdoctoral Research Position in Economics (all genders welcome, Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L/100%) to be filled. Starting date is 4/1/2026. The position is limited to 3 years. This postdoctoral position (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in) is based at the Department of Ibero-America Research (Ibero), Faculty of Business and Economics. The start date is by mutual agreement, but no later than October 2026. The position is meant to qualify young academics for a scientific career. This role aims one to prepare for the tasks of a professorship in the future.
Your tasks
- Conduct independent research and contribute to Ibero’s research projects
- Present research at international conferences and prepare manuscripts for publication in leading academic journals
- Teach courses in development economics, international economics, and/or the economics of Latin America
- Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students
- Coordinate Ibero’s activities, including scientific events and alumni relations
Your profile
- Completed Ph.D. (or close to completion) in Economics or a related discipline (e.g., Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Applied Statistics) with a quantitative focus
- Strong interest in development economics, international economics, and/or the economics of Latin America
- Demonstrated potential to publish in renowned peer-reviewed journals
- Strong command of empirical methods and relevant statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, Python)
- Advanced English proficiency (C1)
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is expected
- Knowledge of German is an asset but not required
- A collaborative mindset and enjoyment of teamwork
The Ibero conducts applied economic research on economic development, with a particular focus on Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Our main research topics include:
- Poverty, inequality, and gender discrimination
- Trade and capital flows
- Allocation, coordination, and effectiveness of development aid
- Migration and conflict
- Environment and climate protection
- Geoeconomics
