The Department of Economics at Rice University in Houston, TX invites applications for a position at the Associate Professor level to begin July 1, 2022. We are also searching for a second position at the Associate or early Full Professor level in the same area (Macroeconomics) and we anticipate searching for an Assistant Professor position in the same area in the following year, subject to final administrative approval.
The Economics Department is a dynamic unit within Rice’s School of Social Sciences that has hired over a dozen outstanding scholars in recent years and is committed to path-breaking research and outstanding teaching. Houston is a cosmopolitan and diverse city, characteristics that are reflected in the university, including academic resources in women and gender issues, African and African American studies, Latinx and Latin American studies, and Asian studies, as well as the Baker Institute for Public Policy, the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, and interdisciplinary efforts like the Collective for Research on Inequality and Social Equity.
Candidates should have a PhD degree in Economics, a distinguished record of scholarship, proven excellence in teaching and student advising and mentoring, and a commitment to a diverse, equitable and inclusive academic environment. Candidates are expected to have engaged in undergraduate and graduate teaching in Macroeconomics and to have conducted leading research in the field.
