The Department of Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods (DEMM) is seeking to recruit five post-doc Research Fellows in Economics (3 positions), Corporate Finance (1 position), Econometrics and Statistics (1 position)

Baseline salary. The baseline net salary is about 19,000 euro (gross salary: 21,000 euro, tax exempt but subject to 11% social security contributions) per annum for two years (renewable for two more years).

Mobility allowance. A net mobility allowance of about 6,400 euro (gross allowance: 7,200 euro, tax exempt but subject to 11% social security contributions) per annum for the first two years since appointment is granted to researchers of any nationality who obtained their PhD from a non-Italian institution. In order to be eligible for this allowance, the candidate needs: a) to have a PhD awarded from a foreign institution and b) not to be already resident in Italy.

Health insurance. Research fellows can join a private health insurance scheme (LINK)

Duration. 24 months (renewable for additional 24 months).

Starting date. Winners will be called to stipulate the contract of collaboration, which will start from the first day of the month following the signature, except justified request of exception by the candidate and anyway for not more than 90 days to be mutually agreed.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must hold a PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Corporate Finance or related subjects within the date of the stipulation of the individual contract.

Candidates are expected to conduct independent research at the highest international standard and to actively participate in departmental life. The positions do not involve any teaching.

Language: English (knowledge of Italian is NOT required).

The Department of Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods (DEMM) is a research intensive department established in 2012. DEMM’s faculty members mostly belong to three main research areas: Economics (from SECS-P/01 to SECS-P/06), Management (from SECS-P/07 to SECS-P/12), and Statistics/Mathematics (from SECS-S/01 to SECS-S/06).

DEMM’s research activity in Economics spans across several fields. These include, among others, micro and macroeconomics, time series and micro-econometrics, international and industrial economics, monetary and financial economics, public economics and health economics, the economics of education and labor economics, development economics and the economics of innovation, energy and environmental economics, economic history and history of economics. The research activity in Finance and Management includes economics of banking, economics of financial markets and intermediaries, corporate finance, management, economics of knowledge, start-up, and public management. DEMM’s research in Statistics and Mathematics is highly diversified both in the theoretical and in the applied areas. Research activity is focused on latent variable analysis, optimal experimental design, Bayesian methods, categorical analysis, inequality measurement, MCMC algorithms, optimization methods and dynamical systems analysis, data matching techniques and machine learning. The latest Italian research evaluation exercise (VQR 2011-2014) placed DEMM among the top 10 departments in the area of economics, management and statistics in Italy. DEMM was also selected as one of the “Departments of Excellence” (Dipartimento di Eccellenza) by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR).
