The Fiscal Policy Analysis Unit of JRC-Seville wishes to recruit an economic modeller to provide quantitative modelling support for EU fiscal policy. This will be delivered within the support framework to DG ECFIN and DG TAXUD, and involve contexts such as the EU fiscal surveillance framework and the European Semester.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the analysis of fiscal policy reforms, through the maintenance and development of large-scale general equilibrium models. Research and analytical work will involve collaboration with other European Commission services and other relevant international organisations and research institutions.
Candidates should ideally have a PhD (doctoral diploma) or a minimum of 5 years professional experience after university studies of at least 3 years (attested by a diploma). She/he should have a solid background in economics, preferably in the area of fiscal policy.
The successful candidate will need to have experience in quantitative economic modelling, such as computable general equilibrium (CGE) models, and a good command of one or more relevant programming languages, such as GAMS, GEMPACK or Python.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with a large-scale general equilibrium model on issues related to corporate taxation and/or overlapping generations modelling on issues related to pension and demographic change. Therefore, the candidate should either have experience in these areas, or a strong motivation to learn with a solid knowledge of general equilibrium modelling. Experience with microsimulation modelling would also be an advantage.
A track record of research and publications will be an asset.
As English is the main working language, the candidate should have a very good level and be able to speak, read and write in this language.
