Position environnement :

Located in the historic centre of the City of Namur, capital of Wallonia, the University of Namur, with more than 60 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programmes and its 11 research institutes and 11 technology platforms, welcomes nearly 8,000 students and doctoral students each year in its 7 faculties and has more than 1,300 staff members, including more than 800 researchers. Within the University of Namur, the Faculty EMCP (Economics Management Communication Politics – www.unamur.be/emcp) has nearly 1,800 students and 250 staff members, including 40 permanent academics and 70 researchers/doctoral students, spread over 3 schools (School of Social Sciences, Politics and Communication, Namur School of Economics, UNamur School of Management). It offers undergraduate (bachelor), graduate (master) and postgraduate (e.g., doctorate) programs in management and economics, during the day and at shifts. It also offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in political science and information and communication. Its members conduct cutting-edge research in many areas of expertise.

The successful candidate will join the UNamur School of Management (UNSM). The 60 academic and scientific members of the UNSM contribute to bachelor's programmes and organize master’s and doctoral programs with a strong focus on themes related to finance, service management/marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, and information management. Its members develop research in these themes within 3 research institutes (Development Finance & Public Policies – DeFiPP, Namur Digital Institute – NADI and Namur Institute for Complex systems – naXys) and collaborate, through master’s theses, internships, seminars and consulting missions, with multiple companies and organizations, both national and international. These institutes offer an intellectually stimulating and collaborative environment, supporting researchers at all stages of their careers to help them flourish and progress.

Job description :

The activities associated with the position are equally subdivided into research, teaching activities and administrative activities. The candidate is expected to show expertise in Finance (priority will be given to candidates with an empirical profile showing expertise in corporate finance, sustainable finance or digital finance) and to develop both his/her research and teaching activities in this area. Teaching will mainly take place in master’s programmes in management and management engineering and in the associated bachelor’s programmes at the University of Namur.

More generally, the applicant will: − be responsible for teaching courses at the various study levels (i.e. undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate);
− supervise master’s theses as well as doctoral dissertations ;
− be involved in (and/or supervise, promote) research programs in the abovementioned fields within the Center for Research in Finance and Management (CeReFiM), one of the components of the DeFiPP Institute.

Through his/her research activities, the applicant will contribute to raise the university’s profile and more particularly :
− publish research findings in reputable journals of the field and present at leading international conferences;
− find and obtain external funding for research;
− enlarge the network of the University.

Finally, the candidate is expected to contribute to the dynamics of the UNSM, research center/institute and faculty and will in the future be involved in administrative responsibilities at the UNSM, Faculty or University level.

Profile

Job requirements :

The applicant has:
− a doctoral/PhD degree in Management, Economics, or equivalent, (or will have obtained one before starting the position);
− a solid research track record with clear aptitudes to publish in high-impact top-tier journals in the field;
− excellent skills to teach to a university student audience;
− the aptitude to incorporate research results into his/her teachings;
− the aptitude to work in a team and the potential to organize and lead a research group;
− Proficiency in French (minimum B2 level), or a strong commitment to achieving this level within one year if not currently proficient;
− a good command of both spoken and written English and the ability to teach in English.

The following features will be considered as assets:
− one or several visits to academic and research institutions other than the one that delivered the PhD degree (post-doc or a visiting research stay of at least 3 months);
− show creativity and openness to innovative forms of teaching and interdisciplinary research;
− the ability to incorporate the business world in teaching and research activities and/or to initiate and develop collaborations with the business world;
− experience in teaching to both regular students and adult learners at the university level;
− knowledge of other languages than French and English.

Contract :

The appointment is expected to start on February 1st or September 1st, 2026 at the earliest. If the candidate has had no academic or permanent research position within the University of Namur, then the first three years are the period for the candidate’s integration in the new environment. After the three-year integration period, the Board evaluates the candidate, and if the evaluation is positive, proposes a tenured position. The salary is determined by the scale used in all Universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (“barème 007”) accessible at www.unamur.be/fr/universite/travailler/baremes-avantages).
