The Chair of Monetary and International Macroeconomics at University of Hohenheim seeks a doctoral researcher in macroeconomics starting June 1st, 2025 or later. Candidates should have or be close to completing a Master's in Economics or related fields with strong background in macro/quantitative methods, programming abilities, and English proficiency. About the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated doctoral researcher to join our dynamic research group specializing in international macroeconomics, monetary economics or quantitative methods. The successful candidate is expected to conduct original research leading to a doctoral dissertation and to present their findings at departmental seminars and international conferences. As part of this position, you will contribute to teaching activities, and participate in departmental activities and our structured PhD program with specialized coursework.
Your Profile
- An excellent Master level degree in Economics or related fields with a strong background in macroeconomics and econometrics and/or numerical methods (students close to completing their Master's degree are also encouraged to apply)
- Strong quantitative and programming skills (MATLAB, Python, or similar)
- The ability to work independently on an own research agenda
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team
- Excellent collaboration skills with flexibility and strong teamwork
- Very good command of the English language

Compensation will be a half time position in accordance with the standards of the public services wage agreement of the State of Baden-Württemberg (EG13-TV-L), with the possibility of increasing to 75% employment. Starting date is June 1, 2025.
