Postdoc, phd candidate
The research group of Macroeconomics (Prof. Lein) of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel invites applications for a PhD or a PostDoc position.
Start date: November 1, 2021 (or by agreement; earlier and later is possible)
You will have the opportunity to carry out innovative research as part of a dynamic team. The focus of our group is on macroeconomics. Most of our research is conducted in collaboration with excellent researchers around the world.
You hold a Master degree or a PhD in Economics and you are interested in macroeconomics, international economics, or related fields. You are curious, enthusiastic about finding out new things, about learning new methods and techniques to conduct research, about working with large datasets, and about relating theoretical models to empirical evidence. Fluency in English is a requirement (German is not).
What we offer
We offer the opportunity to conduct high-quality research in a dynamic, innovative scientific working environment. You will be integrated quickly in a new research project in the field of international macroeconomics, working together with our team in Basel and excellent collaborators abroad. This is very helpful for kick-starting your PhD (for PhD applicants) and for extending your research portfolio (for PostDoc applicants). We offer excellent courses at the Graduate School of Business of Economics, and you will have the opportunity to attend courses at other Swiss universities, abroad, or –for PhD applicants-- to take part in the Doctoral Program in Gerzensee in 2022. Conditions of employment and salary are governed by the personnel and salary regulations of the University of Basel.
