The Economics Department of the University of Bern (Microeconomics, Prof. Dr. Marc Möller) seeks to fill the position of a PhD-Student in Microeconomics.
The focus of the position is research in the area of theoretical Microeconomics (see http://staff.vwi.unibe.ch/moeller/index.html). The successful candidate should have knowledge of Game Theory and be interested in its application to issues in Industrial or Organizational Economics. Besides the development of your own research topic you are required to contribute to the teaching of the Department.
You will be part of a dynamic research group consisting of PhD-students, PostDocs, and senior researchers working jointly in the field of theoretical Microeconomics. We share our results in regular reading groups and seminars. We offer you the opportunity to enrol in a structured graduate program at the Studienzentrum Gerzensee. Founded by the Swiss National Bank, this centre brings into close contact PhD-students of Swiss universities and international Top-researchers on a yearly basis. Besides the standard graduate courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics, the centre emphasizes intensive topics-courses at the research frontier.
The position requires a Master degree in Economics (VWL) or Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science (with a minimum of 60 ECTS in VWL). Proficiency in English and strong analytical skills are a must. Gross yearly salary is subject to the regulations of the University of Bern and is internationally competitive. Starting date is 1. September 2021.
