The Institute for Labour Law and Industrial Relations in the European Union (IAAEU) at Trier University invites applications for one Post-Doctoral Position (m/f/d)
(payscale EG 13 TV-L; 100%). The IAAEU is one of the leading institutes in the area of Labour Law and Labour and Personnel Economics in Germany. The research of the Economics team focuses on labour market institutions and their consequences for market outcomes. The successful applicant will contribute to the research output of the IAAEU focusing on the economic analysis of legal restrictions concerning labour. 

The Institute for Labour Law and Industrial Relations in the European Union (IAAEU) at Trier University invites applications for one Post-Doctoral Position 
wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (m/f/d) (payscale EG 13 TV-L; 100%) to be filled preferably by August 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment is initially limited to a period of three years. An extension for up to three more years may be feasible, taking into account the regulations of the relevant law (WissZeitVG).

The IAAEU is one of the leading institutes in the area of Labour Law and Labour and Personnel Economics in Germany. The research of the Economics team focuses on labour market institutions and their consequences for market outcomes. It consists of up to ten colleagues. We offer a stimulating research environment, support ambitious research projects, offer funding for research assistants, conference participation, as well as invitations of guests, and provide excellent opportunities for internal and external research cooperation. We regularly organise workshops and many of our former post-doctoral colleagues have taken up permanent positions (i.e. professorships) in universities in recent years. Accordingly, the IAAEU provides exceptional prospects for the next step in your academic career.

The successful applicant will contribute to the research output of the IAAEU focusing on the economic analysis of legal restrictions concerning labour. The position involves administrative tasks at the institute and offers the possibility to teach at Trier University in English and German.

Your profile:

  • Master's degree or equivalent and Ph. D. in Economics or related, relevant subject
  • Research interests in Labour/ Personnel Economics and the economic analysis of Labour Law
  • Willingness to cooperate in joint research projects
  • First publications in refereed, international journals or according potential
  • Very good command of the German and English language
  • Readiness to take an active role in a team of committed junior researchers
