RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN FINANCIAL ECONOMICS

– SALARY LEVEL 13 TV-L –

The position in accordance with Section 28 subsection 1 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences on June 1, 2020, or as soon as possible. 

This is a fixed term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The initial fixed term is three years. The position calls for 75% of standard work hours per week (full-time positions currently comprise 39 hours per week). 

The research focus of the group is on the interactions of financial markets, monetary policy and the macroeconomy. Important topics are, for example, the modeling of the term structure of interest rates, risk premia in interest rates and asset prices, the effects of monetary policy on financial markets, and the role of the financial system for climate change. The emphasis is on empirical research based on methods of modern financial and time series econometrics. The candidate will be a member in a team with a strong research focus in an international network and is offered intensive support for the dissertation project. The position includes a teaching load of 3 hours per week. 

Requirements: 

A university degree in a relevant field. Required is a master's degree in Economics, Mathematical Economics, Financial Economics or Econometrics, as well as profound knowledge of macroeconomics. An excellent command of the English language is expected.
