Professor Tahir Andrabi of Economics Department at Pomona College is seeking a full–time Research Fellow for 1 year, starting as soon as possible. This position will be based in Claremont, CA with remote work possible for some period in accordance with the College’s travel and work policies around COVID–19.

Research fellows work closely with faculty on specific research projects. Fellows come from diverse backgrounds and bring highly valued technical skillsets and cultural perspectives to our research teams. Fellows receive mentoring from faculty and work with cutting–edge topics and research methods. They are welcomed as members of the Pomona community and receive salary, benefits, and access to an array of the College’s resources. Fellows are among the best and the brightest of future researchers and practitioners in Economics, Public Policy, and related fields, and many go on to graduate study or pursue careers outside of academia, supporting and implementing evidence–based policy from a wide variety of organizations. This position would participate in Harvard Evidence for Policy Design (EPOD) associated events as necessary.

This specific fellowship will be under the direction of Professor Tahir Andrabi, who is the Stedman–Sumner Professor of Economics at Pomona College. Professor Andrabi is a co–Principal Investigator (with Jishnu Das of Georgetown University and Asim Ijaz Khwaja of Harvard Kennedy School) of the multi–year DFID–funded Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) project in Pakistan. The RISE program consists of a number of studies and activities examining the nature of frictions embedded in different parts of the Pakistani education system.

The project works closely with the Pakistani government as well as public and private partners to ensure that research both informs education policy and is informed by existing policy in Pakistan.
