The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University offers the position of a
W 3-Professor for Health Economics (f/m/d)
to be filled as soon as possible.
The successful candidate should have a distinguished record of qualifications and accomplishments in all areas of Health Economics including research, teaching and administration. He/she will be appointed chairperson the Department of Health Economics at the Center for Preventive Medicine and Digital Health of the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University (CPD: UMM Universitätsmedizin Mannheim (uni-heidelberg.de)). The position of full professor for "Health Economics" at the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University will be established together with the ZEW - Leibniz Center for European Economic Research Mannheim and will be assigned a pertinent area of responsibility at the ZEW.
The focus of the W 3 professorship in "Health Economics" will be on health economics with an emphasis on the micro-econometric analysis of health care markets and their stakeholders. A research focus on Digital Health Solutions with interfaces to Innovation Economics, Digital Economics or Market Design is desired. We are looking for an internationally renowned, outstanding candidate with interdisciplinary scientific experience, especially in the field of medicine, and preferably with an interest in new forms of care such as prevention.
The Dept. of "Health Economics" should work closely together with the Depts. of "Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine", of "General Medicine" and of "Prevention of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases", as well as with the other departments of the CPD. Regarding the collaboration with the ZEW, a separate agreement will be concluded.
Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree, a qualified doctorate as well as, according to § 47 (2) of the Higher Education Law of the state Baden-Württemberg, a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or a comparable scientific qualification. Internationally visible, excellent achievements in research and teaching, relevant leadership experience, successful acquisition of third-party funding and didactic competence are expected as well as cooperation and leadership skills and commitment to academic self-administration. Applications from economists (f/m/d) and political economists (f/m/d), but also from appropriately qualified social scientists (f/m/d) or physician scientists (f/m/d) are welcome.
The position is available permanently. If general civil servant eligibility and budgetary conditions are fulfilled, direct appointment to permanent civil servant status can be made.
