Melisa Williams Higgins is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Bristol. Alongside her research in health economics, her scholarship focuses on economics education, student engagement, belonging and academic support in higher education.

She is a Senior Tutor in the School of Economics, providing leadership for student support and personal tutoring, and the Academic Director of Bristol Black Associates, a university-wide programme that supports Black heritage students' academic success, professional development and sense of belonging.

Beyond Bristol, she is Co-convenor of the International Health Economics Association's Teaching Health Economics Special Interest Group, where she collaborates with colleagues from around the world to advance health economics education through the exchange of ideas, resources and effective teaching practice.
