These positions are in the areas of Corporate Finance and Macroeconomics.

The positions start on 1st October 2025 and are at the level of TV-L E13, according to the German public service salary scale.

The Department of Economics at the University of Konstanz offers funded positions for doctoral candidates within the structured doctoral programme of the Graduate School of the Social and Behavioural Sciences (GSBS). The starting date is 1st October 2025.

The Department of Economics features strong and research-oriented research groups in Finance and Econometrics, Macroeconomics, Labour and Public Economics, and Microeconomics and Decision Making. We are an integral part of the Excellence Cluster “The Politics of Inequality”. We invite applications from outstanding Master’s graduates with a degree in economics or a related field. This year, we are particularly keen to fill positions with doctoral candidates interested in the following areas:

The GSBS offers a first-rate structured doctoral programme, which brings together doctoral candidates from six disciplines (economics, linguistics, political science and public administration, psychology, sociology and statistics) to undertake high quality research in the social and behavioural sciences. Aside from a subject-specific focus, doctoral candidates can opt for an interdisciplinary specialisation in “Decision Sciences” or “Inequality”.

What we expect

  • An outstanding Master’s degree (completed or pending) in a subject relevant to the open positions.
  • A high level of motivation to conduct academic research, a solid background in the relevant methods, English language proficiency and a definite interest in the open positions, as documented by your application form and supporting documents (statement of purpose, academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.).
