The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padua is looking for outstanding candidates for its PhD programme in Economics and Management. This year, we offer five four-year scholarships, 2 for the curriculum in Economics and 3 for the curriculum in Management.

About the Department
The Department of Economics and Management “Marco Fanno” (dSEA) is a centre of excellence in Applied Economics, Accounting, Economic Theory and Management and is part of one of the world’s oldest higher education institutions: the University of Padua, located in Italy's North-East. Founded in 1989, dSEA has over 2,000 students and 75 faculty members conducting research in Economics or Business fields.
In 2023, dSEA was granted the EQUIS Accreditation becoming the first Department of an Italian public university to achieve the prestigious distinction.
dSEA has been awarded the ““Departments of Excellence” seal nominated by the Italian Ministry of University and Research and is confirmed as one of the 18 Italian departments of economics and statistics to receive funding for the five-year period 2023 – 2027.
The department is ranked among the 200 best departments globally in Economics and Econometrics according to the QS World University Rankings.

PhD Programme in Economics and Management
The PhD programme is composed of two distinct curricula: Economics and Management.
Both curricula consist of rigorous coursework during the first year, and supervised research on the PhD thesis from the second to the fourth year. The coursework of the first year is specific to each curriculum and divided in three terms.

Application Requirements
The application deadline for joining us next academic year 2025/2026 is 13 May 2025 at 1 PM (CEST).
The programme is open to students from all countries who hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Business Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering. Students who are going to graduate until 30 September 2025 may apply as well.

To apply candidates are invited to submit:
- curriculum vitae
- a research proposal
- all degree certificates
- all official transcripts
- proof of English competence (for instance TOEFL, IELTS test scores)
- two letters of recommendation
- scientific publications (if any)
- a short summary of their Master thesis (max 4 pages)
- GRE general test is not required but warmly recommended.
